Résumé du livre

This photocopiable book and CD provide you with eight plays (including two in comic-strip format), seven of which are recorded on the accompanying CD. Each play is followed by photocopiable activity pages and teacher's suggestions. The combination of recordings, scripts and activities offers multiple approaches for work in the classroom or language lab, based on reading, listening or acting.

The eight scripts have been carefully selected for English learners. The themes, language level, length, and structure of these plays will appeal to young teens, and the plays lend themselves to being acted out, in a formally staged or less-formal manner. The two short plays in comic-strip format allow you to work with drama quickly and easily.

The 70-minute CD, with recordings of seven of the plays, gives students pronunciation and expression models to follow. It also allows you to use the plays for listening comprehension.

Each play is followed by a full set of pre-listening, listening and follow-up activities. These will help students in several ways : by preparing them for what they are going to hear, giving them a focus to help them concentrate and providing a structure for analysing and expressing what they have understood.

In addition to offering suggested procedures for the activities and complete solutions, the Teaching Suggestions also offer ideas for going further with discussion, role play, etc. The preface, by the experienced English-through-drama coach Kester Lovelace, provides both general tips about using drama in the classroom and specific tips for staging each play.
