Levi Walter Yaggy's astonishing view of the earth and of the underwater world was published in 1893 as one of the ten maps in Yaggy's geographical portfolio. The second edition of this educational tool, which was designed to help american teachers give geography classes, shows numerous illustrations of the most widespread fauna and flora of the pacific, atlantic, and Indian Oceans, in a vision rendered somewhat surreal by unconventional proportions and elevations. Yaggy knew how to cater to his young public and get them interested in the natural sciences.
